Privacy Policy

STARRMATICA adheres to the goals and guidelines that are put forth by regulatory documents and bodies such as the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), the Center for Media Education (CME), the Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus and other organizations who are devoted to providing a safe online community for children.

When a user joins, he or she fills fill out a form that asks for the following information:

  • USERNAME
  • PASSWORD
  • SCHOOL NAME
  • SCHOOL DISTRICT
  • CONTACT NAME
  • CONTACT EMAIL ADDRESS

STARRMATICA does not collect personally identifiable information about individuals who visit this site except when the information is specifically provided on a voluntary basis. Such instances where personally identifiable information may be gathered are the registration for subscription sites or services and in connection with content submissions, suggestions, voting/polling activities and transactional areas.

Personally identifiable information on individual users will not be sold or otherwise transferred to unaffiliated third parties without the approval of the user at the time of collection. The user will have the opportunity to indicate whether he or she would like to “opt out” of receiving promotional and/or marketing information about other products, services and offerings from STARRMATICA and/or any third parties. Further, notwithstanding any opt-out of promotional information by the user, STARRMATICA reserves the right to contact a subscriber regarding account status, changes to the Membership Agreement and other matters relevant to the underlying service and/or the information collected.

STARRMATICA may perform statistical analyses of user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of this site. STARRMATICA may also inform advertisers of such information as well as the number of users that have been exposed to or clicked on their advertising banners. Only aggregated data from these analyses will be provided to third parties. STARRMATICA may sometimes permit third parties to offer subscription and/or registration-based services through this site. STARRMATICA is not responsible for any actions or policies of such third parties if a user decides to subscribe or register on those sites and users should check the applicable privacy policy when providing personally identifiable information to third parties.

Users may always “opt out” of further promotional contacts at any time. Also, upon request, STARRMATICA will take reasonable efforts to delete a user’s personal information from its database. It may be impossible to delete a user’s entry without some residual information because of backups and records of deletions.

One of the programs offered by STARRMATICA is the classroom management system, which allows students, parents and teachers to log in to a student’s account to view the student’s recorded scores on the assessment sections of the site. This data is intended solely for the use of the students, parents and teachers and the information is not collected or used by STARRMATICA for any other purpose. STARRMATICA shall not be held legally responsible for the disclosure by any person of a student’s account password, whether voluntary or involuntary, which results in the unauthorized access to the student’s recorded scores on the assessment section of the site or any other such unauthorized access to the student’s account.

The foregoing policies are effective as of August 1, 2020. STARRMATICA reserves the right to change this policy at any time and will notify users of the existence of a new privacy statement. This statement and the policies outlined here are not intended to and do not create any contractual or other legal rights in or on behalf of any party.
