THE SOURCE FOR SCIENCE AND READING INSPIRATION

I’m back with five more favorites for your reading list!

Here are this week’s favorites:

Dive! by Chris Gall –As an avid scuba diver, I couldn’t wait to read this history of dive equipment. My husband is even more dive obsessed, so I handed it to him to read to our boys (who we hope will be interested in diving with us when they are older.) I have always loved Chris’s illustration style, and the information he shares about diving is equally intriguing!

Impact! Asteroids and the Science of Saving the World by Elizabeth Rusch – This  longer picture book, more appropriate for middle grade, is part of the Scientists in the Field series. I’ve been obsessed with asteroids lately as I conduct research for a future picture book. I found the information in this book fascinating. Did you know we can’t see what is headed our way from the area behind the sun? Yikes!

The Secret Life of the Skunk by Laurence Pringle – This book takes you on a nighttime adventure with a family of spectacular (and stinky!) skunks.

Solar Story by Alan Drummond – This book is one in the author’s series of environmentally themed picture books. Each book demonstrates how a specific location is addressing climate change with successful renewable energy projects.

And last but not least, I’ve decided to try and end each post with a humorous book because I think we can all use a laugh by the end of the week!

The Rat by Elise Gravel – This is one of the books in Elise’s Disgusting Critters series. They are quick, funny reads packed with animal facts. I gave this series to my youngest when he was in first grade, and they were a hit. I really “get” Elise’s humor and recommend all of her books!
